Endowments and Donations

The Museum and its programs exist because of the generosity of a number of great donors. These groups and individuals understand and support the effort to preserve, for the future, the history of the model car hobby as well as the Museum's advocacy of current and future activities in the hobby. The Museum acknowledges the following very generous support:

TSSMCC's forward-thinking commitment to the hobby was first covered in the June 2002 issue of The Builder (Vol.7, Number 1). We express our heartfelt appreciation for this club's many-year financial and other support of the Museum. This donation will be used to pay for three months' rent. Thanks to Tom Geiger and all those many others who do so much for the hobby and the Museum. See the official Museum letter here...

Monetary Donations (Q1 2002):

West Coast Model Expo/NNL $100
The Museum celebrates the fact that the famed NNL West Coast Model Expo has returned. The show in February of this year was a rousing success. More details on the 2003 show in our last newsletter of this year. Thanks to Steve Hinson for his role with this donation. You may remember that the West Coast NNL made a $4,000 donation to the Museum several years ago.

Kellogg & Andelson Acctcy Corporation, James Walters ($150 5 year membership)

Richard Carroll $150.00 (now an Adopter)

Automotive Model Builders, Gerry Bamforth $75.00 (now an Adopter).
Note that the AMB group is the club that has been making contributions to the Museum for the longest time. Thanks, guys!

Puget Sound Auto Modelers Association Makes a Great Donation!
by Mark S. Gustavson

September 11, 2000 The Museum received a $250 donation today from the Puget Sound Auto Modelers Association. This club has been supporting the Museum for several years and their help is greatly appreciated. Club Treasurer/Secretary Tony Willing expressed the support of his club in his accompanying note: "Best of everything in your new location. It is an important task that you are performing, and we at PSAMA appreciate your efforts." Thanks, Tony, for the encouragement and for the support of your great club! This donation will be used to purchase a vacuum cleaner and a typewriter – both of which are needed to keep the new Museum clean and to help administer the archiving of the many items received each month.

Fundraising by Roy Sorensen and www.eScaleCars.com
by Mark S. Gustavson

Roy Sorensen and the new web model car site, www.EscaleCars.com have combined to present an internet fundraising activity for the Museum. Here's how it works: the web site hosts an auction of selected built -up model cars on eBay.com with the proceeds going to the Museum. The first auction, of Roy's almost-box stock AMT/ERTL 1957 Chevy sold for $156.50 recently.  As Roy recently remarked,

"The 1957 Chevy I just sold for over $150.00 was a $3.33 kit I picked up at Toys "R" Us and spent three nights building. I know several of you said you wouldn't give up one of your prized models for auction. It doesn't have to be one of your prize winning models, a clean, box stock model will bring in the dough! Three nights of work is a pretty good trade off for $156.50 for the museum, don't you think?"

More recently, a die cast model from George Bojaciuk. was auctioned to lucky bidder Stephen Russo; Stephen bid $232.49 for the model, and is now one of our new Museum members! Other models, from  Mike Carroll, Terry Jesse, Mark Gustavson and Pat Covert will be sold in the future - a model from Terry Jessee is next!

If you want to participate, check back every couple of weeks by entering these words on the eBay search function:  "Fund Raiser" and "NMCBM". If you want to contribute a model for this auction, contact Roy at motoreplica@worldnet.att.net  Remember, 100% of all auction bids will be donated to the Museum, and all buyers who bid over $50 will also receive a one-year Museum Membership.

Quantum thanks to Roy Sorensen and Rick Hanson and eScaleCars.com for their great generosity!

IPMS/USA Donates Again
Flash!
September, 2000 - The IPMS/USA has just donated $500 to the Museum! The Museum has benefited, twice before, from previous donations from the Society! This latest IPMS donation will be used to fund the model car hobby 'timeline' and to purchase a much-needed typewriter! Many thanks to Chuck Davenport, John Noack, Pat Covert and the rest of the E-Board!

A Wonderful New Endowment for the Museum!
September 24, 1999
The Museum is delighted to announce that it has received a $5,000 contribution from the Dr. and Mrs. C. E. Anagnostopoulos Charitable Trust. This breathtaking donation will be used to establish the new Museum Annual Special Exhibits Program, one of which will be a display of the work of Manuel Olive Sans in early 2001.

Created in honor of Maria T. Anagnostopoulos, this initial contribution (to be supplemented annually by a $1,000 contribution) will be used for the special exhibit program and not for regular operating expenses.

The Museum expresses its profound appreciation to Dr. Constantine Anagnostopoulos.  This endowment will help cement the Museum's role as the premiere institution for the preservation of the history of the scale vehicle hobby.

Another Huge Donation Made: NNL East Makes a Huge Donation to the Museum
3/28/99  Salt Lake City
The TriState Model Car Club has informed the Museum that they will make a donation in excess of $1,000.00 to the International Model Car Builders'  Museum. This support came from an auction of a Franklin Mint die cast, an allocation  from entry fees gathered from 745 attendees to NNL East, plus a significant donation from the TriState Club.

This money will be deposited into the Museum Development Fund, into which, earlier this year, a $4,000 donation from the West Coast NNL was made. The Museum expresses its profound appreciation to the NNLEast and the TriState Model Car Club.

Adopt the Museum for a Month!
In order to properly acknowledge and honor those individuals and clubs that contribute on month's rent to the Museum ($250.00 June 1 and earlier, $500 starting on July 1), the Museum will issue a special certificate to each donor, and mention that donation in each issue of this newsletter.

Here are those groups and individuals who have contributed rent for 2000. The Museum expresses its profound appreciation for all those individuals and associations who have contributed funds to pay the rent.
